‘The Extended Family Part 2’ is the next taster instalment from Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom compiled to whet appetites for the emerging talent that is currently nestling in the fringes of the label and ready to enter into the limelight. First up are Bristol based Amos Nelson and Rich Beanland aka Waifs And Strays. They first pricked the ears of label boss Matt Tolfrey with their debut track ‘3 am’, which ended up featuring in DJ Mag’s essential releases and gaining support from the major players like Luciano and DJ T. Now presenting their long awaited follow-up record ‘Yeah Yeah’ after it initially caused waves at last years Detroit music conference, this house bomb is ready to make its full impact. Already described as “The dirtiest house track I have heard in a very long time” by Radio 1’s Heidi, Waifs and Stray’s classic take on the house sound here features chunky grooves, swinging bounce and vocals that make you dance. Leeds based Laura Jones is one of the North’s foremost rising stars. First unleashing her special brand of stylishly melodic house music with her debut ‘Intentions’ out on Leftroom Limited last year, it spent the summer moving dancefloors at the hands of DJ royalty Sasha, Lee Burridge and Seth Troxler and became a much loved part of DC10’s summer soundtrack. ‘Love In Me’ is the next bomb to drop and has been played religiously by Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom in recent months. With a definite nod to the past, this deep and funky gem is bathed in sunshine and destined once again to lift the spirits of revellers worldwide. Hailing from the other side of the pond, Miami groove-maker, DJ and label owner Lazaro Casanova has been rocking the scene since gaining a residency at the infamous 7 year old Revolver party in Miami in 2004. He has since been busy honing his craft as a producer of raw, underground house music. ‘I Got The Feeling’ is a typically groove-led affair with a memorable vocal and playful percs but it’s when the bassline starts to flex its funk-laden stabs that the track really reaches its zenith. Upon hearing it, Deniz Kurtel requested to remix the track and this will appear on his next full EP out in June. Completing this diverse package of DJ weapons is Valencia born Julian Perez and ‘Butterfly Conflict’– a moving techno piece that is fresh and absorbing in it’s pared down elegance. Hushed rhythmic voices and crisp drum patterns make up the rolling, hypnotic groove. Raresh and the Desolat crew have been tearing up the floor with it and have him down as one to watch. Since the label’s first ever release ‘The Extended Family’ Leftroom has been a purveyor of hidden underground talent. ‘Part 2’ is equally as refreshing and a timely introduction to its four newest recruits.
