Vexed by blazed-out over-thinking, melancholy and mind-numbing insomnia, he shifted away from his usual focus on bass heavy beats, replaced drums with doldrums, and dived into composing gloomy melodic compositions, a process that helped him channel out his glum frustrations.

The result is a distopic collection of sombre ambient tracks, full of dissonant, yet alluring chord progressions, distorted soundscapes, detuned guitar plucks and IDM-ish broken beats, that from time to time can't escape shao's affinity to dank phonk beats.
