Following on from the label's acclaimed 'Shoes Off' EP, a dazzling debut that showcased the likes of Toomy Disco and Francis Inferno Orchestra, their second installment 'Night Light' is a collection of deep and sexy edits that will get you more turned on than R Kelly at a beauty pageant. Whether you openly admit it or not, fans of disco have an undeniable kinship with 80s and 90s R&B and Soul. You can easily blame it on innocent youth, and later, a way in which you communicated with the opposite sex on dance floors and through mix tapes. However, as we all matured into educated and enlightened music fans, we soon realised that these oversentimental vocals and sounds were in fact laying the bedrock for our treasured music at the present. The first gem to be unearthed on the EP is Lumindisco's 'Too Night', a deep and down tempo track that reverberates a flickering bassline and floating vocals. This takes you nicely on to 'Give me your love' by the Prodigal Son of Funk himself, Rocco Raimundo. If this track were any more laid back and soothing, it could be bottled and dispensed to kids with an ASBO. The distinct vocals of Toni Braxton feature in Matthew Kyle?s after hours edit 'Toni', a calculated and infectious achievement that will inevitably convince you that you have grooves and moves. And what better way to recapture and relive the sounds of the 80s with 'All Night' by The Groovers, a fine version that Lionel would surely approve of.
