Finding form with their high-calibre original music, "Everything You Feel" was a welcome return for Lanvary in October 2019. Now the EP sees remixes from US and UK artists.
With an impressive production portfolio to their name, UK/US hybrid, We Are All Astronauts continue to operate at the vanguard of creative dance music. Full of emotion, scope and power their original and remix material continues to wow audiences with "a genreless musical landscape" for a raft of high-profile labels that include Silk Music, Klangwelt and Mango Alley. Moreover, Dave Ridley has been responsible for hosting the monthly Alleys show for the latter for some five years on Frisky Radio with a distinctive blend of classy melodic cuts.
A trio of remixes for Particles has seen reworkings of Sed Project and Andre Sobota in 2017 and 2019, while a remix of "Slingshot Ride" on Particles in October 2016 now sees We Are All Astronauts return to remix the Moldovan duo on Proton Music. Their reinterpretation of the title track is thus a gloriously emotive reworking of the title track that pulsates gloriously against heavy beat and sparkling hi-hat percussion. Building in hypnotic fashion throughout, the remix resonates with tropes from the "Everything You Feel" original while glorious 303-tinged phrasing waxes and wanes in juxtaposition with sumptuously textured pads and spine-tingling bassline progression. The result is a track that captures the very essence of the original while taking it on what Ridley calls a driving "conveyor belt of sound".
A relative newcomer to the world of underground dance, Imran Khan has quickly made a name for himself with his unique sound, studious approach and dedication to his craft. Already reaching the upper echelons of the industry, his early original work for Clinique Recordings paved the way for over a century of production credits to find their way on to such luminary imprints as Balkan Connection, MNL and Stellar Fountain.
Work on Particles has been centred around August 2018's "Arrival" EP, while August 2019's "Organik" and November's "Sunsweat" on Proton Music saw a host of original tracks and a quartet of blue-chip remixes from Silinder, Barry Jamieson, MUUI and LADS. Now starting 2020 with a wonderfully sculpted reworking of "Late Bloom", the Imran Khan remix is a smooth and immaculate offering that ripples hypnotically through central arpeggio and breathy pads. Smoothly progressing throughout a rich ten-minute timeframe and harnessing the themes of the original, a heavy kick and light, ticking percussive top line keep the energy high in a work that demonstrates Khan's continued rise.
