Obatala Y Oduduwa

Osunlade, Sambas

gotsoul
GS001D | 2012-04-16
Obatala Y Oduduwa (The King and the Father), produced by deep house legend Osunlade, was the first release on Gotsoul Records. The original 12" sold out quickly across the world when it was first released 10 years ago. It became an instant classic and established Gotsoul as one of the prominent deep house imprints of the era. Obatala is a deep afro-latin house cut with a deep bouncy b-line, energetic percussion and an infectious melody. The track was caned by top DJs including Doc Martin, Louie Vega, Joe Claussell, Dennis Ferrer, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries, Fred Everything, Derrick Carter, Claude Monet, Jaffa, Harley & Muscle, and Martin Solveig. The Original Mix was produced by Yoruba artist Saint (Santos) and features mad horns by NYC's Monkee Bone and Drago, upbeat keys by Mark Greene, and fierce percs by John Sandovol. Osunlade's dub mix is a peaktime afro-latin banger with a fat b-line, enchanting keys and driving percs by John Sandovol. Jojoflores gives Osunlade's Yoruba Soul Mix a rerub/re-edit in his signature dj friendly stylings. Never before available as a digitial download, this re-release includes remastered versions of the cuts on the original 12" along with unreleased mixes and edits by Osunlade, Santos and jojoflores. Essential Gotsoul release.
