The 125th Suffused Music release saw Vlada D'Shake hit the headlines in early 2016 with his twin-track "Spook On" EP. Now, as we enter 2021, the label returns to the EP with a pair of remixes of partner track, "Weird Creatures", from Cosmonaut and Bobby Deep.
An established star with 30 years experience to his name, Eduard Gubin has been a global force under his Cosmonaut production moniker. A DJ with a long history of performances across Eastern Europe and Russia alongside the likes of Underworld, The Prodigy and Tiesto, the Russian artist has also been a firm favourite at the globally renowned KaZantip festival. With work in the late 1990s supported by Paul Oakenfold, Cosmonaut has gone on to see his music featured on an array of high-profile imprints that include Armada, Intricate Records and Matan Caspi and Stan Kolev's Outta Limits.
Making his Suffused Music debut with a head-shaking, rolling bassline groove, Cosmonaut captures the essence of the original while taking "Weird Creatures" on a synth-fuelled adventure that ripples with sparkling arpeggio that rises and falls in filtered fashion. Syncopated synth plucks add character while a sustained bass progression at the breakdown adds emotion and power. The result is an impressive reworking.
Mpampis Vasilos, better known throughout the dance industry as Bobby Deep, the Greek industry stalwart has built up a sizeable reputation in both the live and production arenas. As comfortable behind the decks as he is in the studio making his distinctive brand of underground house and melodic techno, Bobby Deep is able to boast over a staggering 1,000 production credits to his name, stretching back to a debut for No Smoking Recordings in mid-2007.
Going on to release on such prestigious labels as Mistique Music, Jetlag Digital and Acuna, the Greek artist has been a regular on Suffused Music since a 2016 debut remixing Advent's Rising. January 2017's "Space Hunter" EP was a notable highlight with remixes from Subandrio and Yuriy From Russia as we now welcome back Bobby Deep with a scintillating remix of "Weird Creatures" that dominates with trademark heavy kick and percussive intricacy. Hitting its stride with synth stabs from the original, Bobby builds an array of original production material and textured layers alongside a bouncing bass groove and sustained pads. Reverse, stereo-panned effects add to the aural collage in an innovative and dynamic new interpretation.
