Resident wayfarers Sparrow & Barbossa return to MoBlack Records, along with one of the label's reigning songstresses, Nomvula and Goya-nominated griot Cherif Badua on strings. Proponents of immersive sonic voyages, the musical storytellers propel even deeper with Nomvula’s lyrical prowess and the Kora maestro's permeating strums at the crux. A gift that keeps on giving, 'Amore Profondo' is complemented with three distinctive reinterpretations by a cast of talented remixers.
Starting off, Mpumalanga’s Caiiro revels in the ubiquity of 'Amore Profondo' at first beat, drifting its lush vocals into mesmeric rhythms and rapturous melodies. Mozambican artists Breeze and the Sun and Neil Amarey join in to deliver a compelling rendition that marries riveting instrumentals, spirited Afro grooves and transcendent plangencies. Milan's Ivory helms the dark side of 'Amore Profondo,' undulating robust basslines through sharp syncopations, incisive timbre and esoteric nuances - voltaic but 'amore' nonetheless.
Rounding out the EP, the original mix gleams with luminous harmonic stratas. A mélange of sensual Latin instruments, vigorous drum patterns and tender melodies, 'Amore Profondo' is a lasting dancefloor ballad that echoes eternal solace through faith, requited devotion through grace, and redemption through soul-driven motion.
A radio edit completes the series.
