INVINC DD11 | 2022-07-08
Slovenian DJ/producer Marjan Vitorijoski's productions first showed up on our collective radar back in 2019 leading to an appearance on the 1st volume of Dancefloor Detonators on Invisible Inc swiftly followed by an appearance on Curses' Ombra International imprint.

Three years on and Vitorijoski's sound is even more focussed and refined. His productions more advanced, his roots deeper.

Expressing a deep passion for ancient Macedonian culture and art his music often sounds like a bridge between his European homeland and the Orient.

With an array of hardware and effects processors that most producers would be highly envious of at his disposal, his music also frequently benefits from the inclusion of organic instruments too (a theme those familiar with Invisible Inc will be aware of) most notably the Persian daf (a frame drum similar to the Celtic bodhran) which punctuates each song with its hypnotic beat.

Interspersed with monastic chants that seem to channel the ancestors perfectly, the swirling arpeggiated synths, pulsing bass lines and slicing rhythms result in something that sounds as rooted in history as it is current. It's also highly acidic. Close your eyes and you can imagine yourself transported to an ancient Macedonian opium den.

The three original tracks are complemented by an epic remix from Optimo Music stalwart and Phase Group founder Mr TC who takes the acid and explores the outer limits even further.

The EP's artwork (by Gordon Mackinnon) is based on a pattern from traditional Macedonian costume - originating from a period when opium dens were still very much in existence.
