Canadian producer Trevor Gordon returns to Piston Recordings with the superb Humble Reality EP. This one follows a raft of remixes on Piston over the Summer season and stands out as yet another solid effort from Trevor. Taking inspiration from legendary artists such as Ian Pooley, Olav Basoski and Kerri Chandler among others, Trevor set a goal to pursue house music production. He has since gone on to gain notoriety with his distinct deep house sound. His works have been championed by top artists around the world and he continues to churn out the goods. Great to have him back once again.

Humble Reality opens the release with a smooth, deep rooted groover. The track is characterised by a dark theme with an intriguing spoken vocal and accompanying vocal shots. An infectious bassline runs through the groove alongside spacey chords and spritely keys. A definite must for any late-night set. Character Assassination ramps up the energy, delivering a straight-up house joint to rock the floors. A heavy, droning bass sits on a bed of rhythmic percussions and a punchy kick drum. Trevor brings forth his knack of choosing just the right spoken vocal once again, which adds depth to the groove. The track is finished with flurries of funky basses and nifty piano action that will definitely grab attention. Economic Warfare rounds out the release, taking us up yet another level with an energetic workout to please dancing feet. A strong drum arrangement is led by solid kicks and crispy hats as sweeping sounds fill the spectrum. Keeping in line with the general theme of the EP, a cool spoken vocal comes through to add narrative. A super groovy bassline drives the groove as vocal one shots and distorted chords ring out, making this an absolute must have.
