SCI+TEC boss Dubfire looks to round off a successful and hectic 2012 with the release of his second compilation for the label. Whilst 2009's 'Past, Present, Future' mix focussed solely on the label's roster of talent, his latest 'A Transmission' double CD mix sees him pair current and forthcoming SCI+TEC gems with tracks that have become mainstays in his recent DJ sets, plus a few classic cuts that add an impressive nostalgic flair.
"What makes this mix so special for me is the variety of classics and a more introspective track selection" says Dubfire. "There's also quite a few exclusive unreleased specials in there and mixing them together with the current and older tracks has been a really enjoyable experience. I've actually been quoted in the past as disliking the whole experience of working on mix-compilations, but this latest mix has really highlighted again for me the merit of these releases for promoting the music of all the genres that I'm into personally."
'A Transmission' is your perfect Dubfire club set. CD 1 opens with the deeper tones of Butane, Patrice Scott and SHDWPLAY before a look to the past with the Mind Readers mix of, The Believers "Who Dares To Believe In Me?" and MURK's seminal rework of Liberty City's "If Your Really Love Someone." Our first helping is brought to a close by the youth and experience of SCI+TEC debutants Justin James and Boris.
CD 2 finds the party at its peak as SCI+TEC artists including SHADED, MiniCoolBoyz, Sinisa Tamamovic and Carlo Lio take centre stage before Dubfire himself brings the mix to a climax as he melds his smash hit "OCTVS" with Four Tet's remix of the crescendo topping "Matthew and Toby" by RocketNumberNine.
