WOLFEP016 | 2013-01-28
Medlar returns to Wolf Music with some of his finest work to date. Opening cut "The Sun" is the kind of beatdown, soulful house cut you wish Kenny Dixon Jr would get round to making; raw drums, Rhodes sparkles, loose percussion, soulful vocal touches, fluid bass... "Knockard Pearl" arrives first remixed by Detroit Swindle, who pump up this rave-tinted piano house number for top notch 90s style tuff garage action. Medlar's own version is a deeper, slower affair. Lastly "Govern" weaves blues vocal samples into a pushing, skippy house backing track. Quality stuff all round.
