So, What’s Your Plan?“
This was the question the ‘Boy Oh Boy’ duo couldn’t stand to hear after their adventure in New Zealand ended abruptly and unexpectedly, t. Their fictional novel based on true events, alongside their first electronic music album, is the creative outcome of the struggle to answer this question. It guides you through their crazy experience and tackles the insecurities of finding your passion.

The first track of the album is a unique listening experience that makes you feel the discomfort, stress and pain of ‘Hitting Rock Bottom’. The tense build-up is rich with heavy out-of-sync synths combined with orchestral elements that pushes the listener all the way to the edge.

The second track, with its unique synth melody, represents the start and excitement of a new adventure. The track is a collaboration with Nairobi D and is the first of 4 ‘to the floor’ beat of the album.

Subtle African percussion and vocals set the tone for an uplifting introduction to one of the main characters in the book. ‘Meeting Emma’ shows Boy Oh Boy’s passion for afro house. The ongoing suspension will make you curious about what might be next.

“She’ll be Alright” is a typical saying from New Zealand, something the duo knows all too well. Together with their best buddies, T.M.A, and enriched with vocals from Eleonora, they’ve created a drivy baseline and re-sampled vocal hits that keep you hooked.
The highlight of the album is a highly emotional piece that will grasp you right from the start. A warm piano, strong strings and the voice of the German Bon Iver, Lophelia, takes hold of the listener and gives a taste of what it means to lose everything. ‘Goodbye Emma’ emphasizes this feeling, which is also brought to the dance floor with an additional club edit.

‘Welcome “Home”’, deals with the struggle of feeling like a stranger in your home town. This collaboration with Bar.ba is a slow starter that develops into a journey of wide-open sawtooth bass lines and strong synth lines that captures the indifference of outgrowing what used to be called “home”.

‘So, Insecure’ is Boy Oh Boy’s experiment of entering the pop business. Teaming up with the talented electro-pop artist Conor Ef and his unique voice they showcase what it means when all your choices and decisions are controlled by insecurity.
Another collaboration with Eleonora, ‘Off the Emptiness’, fills any empty space with a touching voice, relatable lyrics and pitched toms that create a recognisable beat.

Boy Oh Boy’s original ‘All That Matters’ is full of detuned Arps combined with sampled vocals. It develops into a catchy beat for the dance floor but not without a subtle touch of melancholy. This song takes you onto the journey of the main character, defining what really matters in life.

‘Coisa Valiosa’ finishes the book and the album with an outstanding listening experience. It picks up right where ‘Hitting Rock Bottom’ let you off the hook, and alternates between despair and optimism. With its dominating atmospheric elements and strongly present drums, it leaves you with only one question: ‘What’s Next?’
