This spring saw seasoned XYZ contributor Koelle team up with multi-instrumentalist Reza Safinia on Reverie, a two-sided offering which saw the union of electronic tones and orchestral influences into a dance floor affair. As the fall arrives to Montréal, we're pleased to present our biggest remix compilation to date. 6 artists from the over the broad melodic house and techno spectrum will offer their versions of the tracks over the weeks to come. Here is Vol.1 of the Reverie remixes, featuring Lovecraft, Niki Sadeki and Ian O'Donovan.

Lovecraft takes his time to set the mood on his take of 'Reverie'. Floating chords rest on an arp which keeps on building up until the break. That's when the main hook comes in, carried by a rolling bassline continuously building in energy.

Offering the first remix of ‘Into The Woods' is Niki Sadeki. Her take on the song embraces an upfront arpeggio and a pumping ride cymbal. These core elements offer the backdrop as the arrangement is rounded by chimes, lush pads and counter-melodies.

True to his style that made him a pillar of the label since the early years, Ian O'Donovan goes in with a proper roller of a tune, first establishing a riding hat groove laying on the bass progression. The iconic horn from the original is then unleashed, leading into a break which sees the harmony develop in full effect. O'Donovan finally sprinkles an acid layer to the bass, an exclamation point to the driving track.
