Tribe Records is proud to present 'Something New', the beautiful result of a collaboration between South African artists Nkokhi and Botshelo Huma. It's the latest Tribe Records release to showcase the wealth of production talent in South Africa, which has the biggest consumer market for house music on the planet, a huge audience who are as musically sophisticated as South Africa's producers.

Nkokhi Mlungisi Mlangeni from Bergville in Kwazulu-Natal, is a prime example. He's worked as a studio engineer, producer and award-winning remixer since 2002, mastering six different types of music production software in the process. 'Sounds excite me, rhythms drive me and beats make me whole, he says, and his tracks, notably 2011 'Travelling Man', have been exciting other DJs and producers too. 'Something New' is the second single taken from Nkokhi's 'Journey of Life' album, released in Southern Africa by Baainar Records.

It feels like there's a whole posse of percussionists working together on 'Something New', a smouldering, soulful house stormer that revels in jazzy organ riffs and flourishes and keyboard solos, yet still foregrounds the rounded, mellifluous vocals of Botshelo Huma, nicely multi-tracked on the chorus.

Oral Deep is a duo of young South African producers who have been creating house music since 2007. Oral Deep aka Thato %u2018Cula%u2019 Tlhaku and Thapelo 'Legae' Nkoane set up their label Gem Shack Records in 2010, and it's in the 'shack' that they create their rich, lush productions. They deliver a lovely expansive remix which they layer with keys, organ riffs, synth rolls and parps of brass into a track that feels more like a warm-up or very late-night tune to our ears, but we'll let you DJs be the judge of that.

As its name suggests, Josh Milan's 'Honeycomb Vocal Mix'cuts to the chase and builds around the powerful vocal. That's just what the great man from Blaze, who needs no introduction as an artist and producer, intended to do when he set up the Honeycomb Music label in 2010, stressing that he was far more interested in lyrical content, musicianship and banging vocals than in producing artists who looked good but couldn't sing! Botshelo Huma sure can perform, and Milan wraps her vocals in a warm boogie blanket of chimes, synths and strings. Niiiice!
