Seamless Recordings, brings you the new release from J.Cub. Jacob Kelly is the owner of Eclectic Avenue Recordings, and CUB Records label. Jacob was also part owner of Baker Street Recordings, one of the strongest underground house music labels in the past 5 years. He has been collecting music since the 80's which shows in his music with his eclectic musical taste.
Jacob has released on Music For Freaks, Saints & Sonnets, Minority Music, Eclectic Avenue Records, 3am Recordings, Artizan, Paranoid Music, and more recently on Defecteds new off shoot DFTD. You may also recognise him as being responsible for one of the biggest House re edits released a couple of years ago, J.Cub's Lonely Club mix of Lil' Louis's - Club Lonely.
Jacob also used to co host a specialist weekly National FM radio show, playing Funk, Soul, Hip Hop and House on Galaxy FM (which is now Capital FM).
For his first release on Seamless he delivers Un Solo. Which also comes with a dub tool and remixes from Rob Mello.
His original mix is an organic deep house affair with a feeling of old school in the chords that run through the track. The beats are class and this is definitely one for the more discerning listener.
The Dub Tool You Mix is a simple but effective tool with solid beats from the original and the cut up vocals, but made into a very loopy affair with a phat bass sound, much akin to the sound from MARS - Pump Up the Jam, to keep this tool simple and easy to work with.
On remix duties we have London based DJ and Producer; Rob Mello. He has recorded, produced, and remixed a diverse catalogue of releases since 1992. Rob produced the first Black Science Orchestra single with Ashley Beedle, "Where were you", released on the legendary London house label, Boys Own. Since then Rob has been appearing regularly on Classic Records amongst others. His remixes add a bit more energy for the dance floor. Using the same chords he also adds sub bass to the mix and keeps it smooth and hypnotic. He has provided two slightly differing remixes. One smooth and the other just a little rougher and more underground.
