Past (Remixed)

Juan Deminicis

Proton Music
PROTON0226 | 2013-09-24
Juan Deminicis' "Behind The Sun" EP has been one of Proton Music's 2013 highlights, illuminating the first part of the year with its hypnotic grooves, pulsating rhythms and melodic overtones, providing an imagery of ominous scudding clouds pierced periodically with shafts of golden sunlight that light up the horizon. Both the title track and its partner, "Past", were heavily supported by the likes of Svatoslav Tvardovsky, Erich Von Kollar and fellow Argentinean, Hernan Cattaneo while Deminicis himself has since gone on to further adorn the catalogues of Baires, Sudbeat and Guy J's recent "Balance" compilation as well as seeing his "Downshifting" collaboration with Pablo Acenso receive a full remix release on Proton in May this year. Six months after its initial release, we return to Juan Deminicis' "Past" as Proton Music is proud to deliver two brand new remixes from the Balkans and South America.
From the north-western city of Tirkala, Greek producer Nikko.z found his primary influences rooted in the 1960s experimental sounds of Pink Floyd and The Doors which ultimately led him on a path towards the underground progressive sounds of Sasha, Digweed and Cattaneo. Graduating in electronic music production has meant a wealth of technical skills have been applied to his craft allied to an undimmed musical passion. A growing portfolio of work has seen his Beatport production credits approach one hundred while Nikko has found a home amongst some of the highest profile imprints from Movement and Lowbit to Stripped and Dopamine.
Marking a debut with his pulsating remix of Apologist's "Give Me Your Hands in late 2012, Nikko.z now returns to Proton with a deeply hypnotic reworking of "Past". Taking his cue from Juan Deminicis' original, a rhythmic melange of percussive elements ricochet across the stereo spectrum as the original melodic refrain builds relentlessly against a cavernous bass line entrenched in rich harmonics. Inextricably linked to the original work, Nikko.z has crafted something extraordinary.
Situated in central Argentina in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas, Cordoba resident, Luis Bondio has hit the ground running since his first work for Kansak Recordings in 2010. A regular with South American label Baires with tracks like "Differences" and nestled neatly within the catalogues of Lowbit, Dopamine and Nick Warren's recent "Renaissance Masters Series" compilation, Luis Bondio's collaborative work with Cesar Lomardi have seen the duo scale the considerable heights of EDM success with the recent "Freak Motion" EP on 99percent recordings as well as work on Classound and Liquid Grooves.
Making his debut for Proton Music, Luis Bondio drops deeper still with his reworking of "Past". Reverb-drenched percussive claves and swirling effects sit atop a bass line from the depths of the Laurentian Abyss, locked tightly to a sultry, seething groove. Atmospheres comprised of organically textured pads meander across the aural soundscape as hints of the melodic hook from Deminicis' original puncture the airwaves. This is a luscious trip with a deep rolling edge.
From behind the sun, Juan Deminicis' "Past" has continued to shine brightly into the future with remixes from Nikko.z and Luis Bondio.
