The SoulFunktion production duo of Brian Keys Tharme and Wally Walton team up with the new soulful house vocal talents of Mikie Black to bring you their next instalment of deep and soulful house music.
SoulFunktion feat Mikie Blak Let Me Know
Having completed remix duties for Soulful Sessions collaboration with Mikie during last summer (Got It All on Tony Records), the boys are back to deliver their own style of trademark Vocal House, with a track co-written with Mikie Blak, entitled Let Me Know.
Complete with a SoulFunktion classic vocal mix and dub in addition to an Alliance DC vocal rework and an alternative deeper vocal mix from Matt Jam Lamont.
All featuring Mikie s trademark lyrics and vocals, this package covers all the bases.
Mikie Blak
Leicester born, Mikie Blak began his music career at age 16, with his first solo release Bounce. At 17, he moved to London to pursue a professional music career. This led to the release of his first R&B album under the name Mr Alexander Friday Night to Monday Morning.
Mikie then made his TV debut on Trevor Nelsons Urban Choice on BBC2, and performed at a series of showcases in Sohos Ronnie Scotts, leading to a recording contract and a publishing deal.
Mikie performed at the 2001 Grammy Music Awards Party, alongside Destinys Child, Madonna and the Temptations, making him the first unsigned UK artist ever to sing at the Grammys.
During the autumn of 2008, Mikie Blak founded the Urban Soul band, Stone Cold Groove. In the intervening period they have performed with Beverly Knight, Lemar, Horace Brown and have supported the legendary Musiq Soulchild on a couple of occasions. Mikie Blak has also toured throughout Europe with Drum N Bass band, Visionary Underground and went on to perform with Jungle gends like Brokie and MC Det, Devious D and Shockin B.
Additionally, Mikie Blak performs with the Bob Marley tribute band, Salute to the Wailers, performing at venues such as Hackney Empire and Hammersmith Apollo. This includes singing Redemption solo and performing duets with Mica Paris and Wailers guitarist, Junior Marvin.
2013 has seen Mikie Blak branch out into the ever growing Soulful house scene, enjoying releases on Tony Records and now SoulFunktion.
SoulFunktion is a collaboration between long standing London based DJ Wally Walton and the legendary UK House producer Brian Keys Tharme. First having worked together in the 90s on releases for a variety of labels including Sweat, Narcotic and Catch Records (in which Brian was a partner with Gavin Face Mills of Copyright fame), the boys are now back together with their 25 years of experience at the top of the UK club scene to bring you their new productions. In the intervening years, the boys have worked on remixes for some of the biggest names in House Music including Tuff Jam, En Vogue, Kristine Blonde, Usher, Tina Moore, CeCe Peniston, Juliet Roberts and Craig David to name a few. Brian has also played keyboards in the studio for the likes of Dave Lee (aka Joey Negro), Bobby & Steve and Booker T. During the same period DJ Wally could be found playing at the best clubs and parties on the London scene, including being resident at the notorious Roller Express rave venue throughout the 90s and more recently The Pirate Club and Black & White, and presenting a show on Pressure Radio and guesting on Londons Passion FM.
