The second instalment of Eric Sneo's Re-Transmit series has landed and Boris gets his hands on "Slave To The Beat", where he mangles the trademarked vocal even more. Cavernous effects bring us up to date, the shuffling rhythm section grinds away and some of the industrial overtones of the past are kept alive. On the 2014 edit, we get the vocals in full force, while much of the menace of the original is kept intact as the sub-bass gallops under the hats and rides.
Sasha Carassi's version of "Dance La Famila" steamrolls through the night with its tough groove and mechanized percussion, letting dark stabs and a bubbling bassline all come together for a streamlined, nocturnal journey.
