Brave EP

Jozef K Winter Son Feat. Mz Sunday Luv

Rebirth
REB095 | 2015-02-16
In the vast and sinister walls of the hallowed Berghain nightclub in Berlin, Winter Son (aka Thomas Ragsdale) met Sankeys resident DJ Jozef K. After discovering a shared love of techno, grunge and all things melancholic the pair decided to make music together.
Their debut release, 'The Straw That Broke The Camel's Back' released on Sasha's label Last Night On Earth, drew on both producers' backgrounds: one whom spends the majority of his waking hours within the confines of a dark nightclub, and the other from the abstract world of leftfield, brooding electronica.
The 'Brave EP' is their dedut on Rebirth. Taking Influences from techno Detroit to Berlin electronica, 'Brave' and 'Loveless Vessel' have an Orbital-esque feeling, incorporating elements of techno, acid, funk, and breakbeat, and feature vocals by the Canadian singer Mz Sunday Luv. An eclectic mix of heads down warehouse atmospheres, raw dancefloor energy and haunting introspection.
The package also include a remix from Tuff City Kids, aka Gerd Janson (who also runs the Running Back label) and Phillip Lauer (half of Arto Mwambe). Hot on the heels of their recent remixes for Sven Vath and Talamanca System, they drop another impressive one, taking inspiration from classic techno foundations to 80's flavour: Banging 909 beats, dark bass and synth sounds and the classic epic break in the middle Shield re-edits the 'Loveless Vessel' original version for more dancefloor action, balancing the timeless piano line, the strings and the thumping bass stabs to create something strong.
