Yoruba Records is happy to ring in 2015 with this compilation of previously unreleased tracks that spans a number of styles and features many familiar faces.

This compilation opens with a special performance by The Piscean Group who take the reins of not one, but two Afefe Iku tracks in stunning form in this release. Next, Git has come through with powerful tribal track ‘Jump Up With It’; its alternating bass lines and rhythmic chants are sure to earn it a place in the peak hour.

The title track from label head Osunlade’s latest full length, ‘Peacock’, has gotten the proper remix treatment for this compilation. First off, DJ Kemit’s mix is a deep and techy masterpiece, which builds in to a goose bump inducing climax, finally releasing with a chunky bass line that’s sure to make a late night dance floor go wild. The Swiss duo PR3SNT brought us a mix that might seem ambient leaning out of the gate but, with the addition of a drawn out bass line and structured 2/4 claps, they make this track a sure party starter. Finally, Emphasis Recordings own Steven Tang goes to work, putting together a heavy hitting mix that screams proper techno.

Lady Alma also gets into double trouble with a pair of remixes of ‘It’s House Music’ by OVEOUS and Erik Moliere. While OVEOUS ‘s mix leans towards sexy, funky, 90s, and ready for the floor, Erik brings us a loungey, funky and jazzy cut that takes you on a musical journey; the vocals complement the guitar riffs and gentle keys in unprecedented matter.

Djinji Brown shows us the true meaning of a dub cut with his ‘Waterfalls in Dub’. The scattered bass and rhythmic bongos add to the sounds of water falling, giving this track a secluded rainforest-esque vibe. Rising star Mike Steva has turned in his latest, ‘War Cry’. With drums that evoke the picture of a ceremony and a well-placed digital glitch sound this track has a nearly eerie vibe to it until the addition of another piece: the horns seem to be sounding the alarm- charge!

Next, Matteo Senolia flexes his studio chops with a snare and high-hat driven groove featuring crisp vocals, this number is highly recommended for fans of Detroit house. Label veteran Drala breathes a breath of pure ambience into this compilation with ‘Olokun’, a melodic, relaxing groove with vocals sure to make you want to close your eyes and enjoy the journey enfolding in front of you. Another familiar face, Toto Chiavetta, delivers a tribal-infused techno stomper that draws on a number of influences; a track you need to hear to believe.

Last, but certainly not least Osunlade shares his vision for the future of Yoruba in the passionate, warm and drawn out melodic groove that is ‘Blue Is The New Green’. The delayed synth line paired with shakers and a gentle but driving kick bring this release to a proper and fulfilling close.
