Nice & Nasty welcome back Katsuhiko for another album experience, the first in a series of albums from the Japanese maestro. Born and raised in Sapporo, Japan, Katsuhiko has spent considerable time in Europe, notably Berlin, Germany where he has fine tuned his production skill and been inspired by everything that is cool about Europe's doyen of Techno.

Like a fine malt whisky, Sun is rising and Moon is rising matured between 2007 - 2014 by master music distiller, Katsuhiko, as he traveled between Japan and Europe and sampled the delights of the Berlin Underground.
Katsuhiko is a craftsman of minimal techno; however, this album explores melody and the flow of sound between nature and machine like the flow of the tides that afford the artist to create a soundscape that portrays the interaction between the Sun, the Moon, the Universe and ourselves. Katsuhiko's craft is pure and suited to the album experience and whilst it works on big systems and clubs its equally perfect for personal headspace of commuting, night driving or just chilling. It's not ambient mind you.
In a traditional album sense the artist implores you to listen and enjoy the album in sequence so that your experience may be similar to his and be inspired by birds, nature, flying birds from deep to light from dark to bright space. Again, I stress this is not ambient but does fill the room and head space with a serene collection of sounds.

Like David Bowie, Iggy Pop and U2 before him, Katsuhiko's experience of Berlin and life as a Berliner has forced him to shift his interests from digital to analog, from technological to organic and something that he never done before is to play keyboards more than before.

Katsuhiko found that playing, the fun of performance helped him find beautiful chords or cool funky sequence and simply have free spirited fun, not jazz style but 'off the cuff' simple fun.

Using classic hardware Roland SH101 was the final piece in the Katsuhiko jigsaw that was painting his universe picture and describing the tidal flows that the rising of the sun and the moon create for all of us. This album is calm but complex, banging but deep, chilled but not ambient. This is a real lovely experience for the listener and the dance so enjoy. Enjoy it when the Sun rises and when the Moon rises. Enjoy it daily.

Katsuhiko has worked, reworked and been remixed by a plethora of top techno music makers and as party of the Nice & Nasty family enjoys the support of Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, Elliot Dodge, Rennie Foster, DJ Mourad, Detroit Techno Militia and many, many more.
