Don't Leave Me To Me

MMat, Asio

Orbeatal
ORB11 | 2015-07-13
Minimalist in its stylings and with a nod to past that still manages to sound fresh, Bombay based and Bhavishyavani Future Soudnz head honcho M.MAT’s debut two-tracker alongside Orbeatal boss ASIO (aka R-Play) on the producer’s boutique Parisian techno label ushers in a cross-borders collaboration that’s set to become something of an event. Three songs deep in form, the EP kicks off with ‘Don’t Leave Me To Me’, a floor cut that is soaked in warmth yet packs enough of a hefty punch for the mid-time dance floor, its narcotic title vocal helping set the tone for this driving and deep cut that pushes on steadily through its sub-eight minute runtime. Montreal’s dubbed-out techno specialist Deadbeat appears on the release’s sophomore track, contributing the ‘Bird Migration Dub’ of the EP's title number, pushing it into a heady, intoxicated territory with tense atmospherics and reverb that only break halfway through the track to bring to the forefront a muscled dark bassline that bubbles and erupts under the surface in equal abandon. EP closing edit by Bruce Leers & M.MAT is a work in highlighting contrasts, its wet front-end replete with hypnotic synth stabs and a tempered bassline drives the track towards a peak that is eventually subdued by soft acid piano fills and an almost meditative breakdown.

All three tracks are engineered for different time of the night-time dance floor
