Klunk & Zilly (aka Terry Francis) opens up with Cycle, a journey into the depths of Terry's twisted Tech consciousness. The track makes interesting use of real recordings amongst an infectious & hypnotic groove, a guaranteed pumper on the depths of any murky, early hours dance floor.
Continuing with this Tech feast, Francis offers up Zulu, a deep sub-bass roller, thoughtfully contrasted with tripped out delayed vocals. This piece demonstrates progressing patterns of synth riffs and beat structure - elevating it above the more repetitive competitors in the genre.
Lewis Ryder's remix gives us a generous helping of deep bouncing low end action - fittingly complimenting intricate synth hits & subtle bass stabs. Add to this a stomping beat, smoothened hi-hats and the original's hooky vocal and you have solid head nodding action.
Raymundo Rodriguez steps up for the final remix, offering us a slice of his own brand of deeper Tech-House that is making so many waves at the moment. Raymundo makes interesting use of the vocals, creating a slightly abstract perspective on the original, complimented by a typically groovelicious, bassline drumbeat combo.
A well rounded EP. Not surprisingly, driven by the more refined producers.
