Hot on the heels of his brilliant Future Bound EP for Grass Green Recordings Darren Clark is back with a salvo of disco- and soul- flavoured grooves for clued-up floors.While Future Bound showcased Clark's prowess as a composer/producer with some electrifying electronic grooves, the Enchantment EP highlights his ability to unearth unrinsed samples and use them as the springboard for something distinctly his, and definitively of the moment.Lead track Enchantment is a peak-time, party-starting monster that will put a smile on the face and spring in the step of even the most curmudgeonly clubbers. Clark's mastery of arrangement keeps the intensity high throughout and it's powered by drums that are disrupted just enough. This could be sacrilege, but it - just maybe - wouldn't sound out of place in the Ugly Edits series. Late Night Lovin' is a low-slung, upper mid-tempo groover perfect for club warm-ups and bar sets, again with exquisite use of its source material.Brother drops the tempo a little further still, but a yearning vocal ensure the emotions remain high.Clark might not be the most prolific artist around but his releases are a cast-iron guarantee of quality. This EP underlines his dexterity and understanding of multiple sub-genres of deep house.
