Jon Lee returns to Piston Recordings alongside a trio of collaborators with the superb ‘Amigos EP’. Since the mid-’90s, Jon Lee has been a staple of the U.S. and Canadian house scenes, founding Concepts Records and co-founding the influential Tilted Records label. A seasoned DJ and producer, he's played across major cities worldwide and continues to release music on top labels. Jon also hosts a monthly show on StromKraft Radio and collaborates with other artists under the Westside Legacy project. Lee is joined on this release by label newcomers Sherman C and Keith Chambers who both bring a wealth of experience to the production process. Sherman has been active in Seattle’s dance scene since ’92 and spins obscure vinyl across many genres. He owns Selector Records & Apparel, Capitol Hill’s hub for underground vinyl, and has shared the stage with DJ Garth, Mark Farina, DJ Czech, and others. Keith also spins regularly and continues to wow the crowds across the north west coast. Vancouver-based artist, Andromo, also returns to the label, taking the reins on remix duties and offering a standout rework. Known for his refined sound and growing global support, he's steadily carved out a strong presence in the scene.
Jon and Sherman C are up first with ‘1 For Lionel’ which opens with chunky drums and shuffling hi-hats, locking in a tight, flowing rhythm with layers of crisp percussion. Mesmerizing chopped vocal shots drift in and out, adding a hypnotic flair, while warm, loungy piano riffs bring a laid-back sophistication. Anchored by a thick, sub-heavy bassline, the groove rolls effortlessly making this perfect for late-night sessions.
Next, Jon is joined by Andromo on the ‘The Good Times’. Driven by punchy kick drums and tribal-inspired slapped percussion, this deep house groover pulses with rhythmic energy. Rolling hi-hats and a thick, plucky bassline keep the momentum steady, while warm chords and diva-style vocal shots add a stylish, soulful edge. The break offers a smooth, inviting pause—rich with warmth and subtle tension—before building seamlessly back into the groove. A perfect blend of dancefloor heat and deep, emotive vibes.
Rounding out the release, Jon gets together with Keith Chambers on ‘Glimpse’. A deep house gem that delivers a playful, infectious groove with soft kick drums, bright hi-hats and live-feel percussion driving the rhythm. Funky plucked guitar riffs intertwine with deep, subby basses, laying a rich foundation. Ethnic-tinged vocals add character and flair, while shimmering synth plucks hypnotize. Saw wave motifs cut through with bold contrast, adding a dynamic edge to this warm and rhythmically engaging journey.
