They meet again! After successful releases on Freerange, Largeand Lazy Days, the duo of Fred Everything and JT Donaldsoncomes correct with this great EP. Title track 'Memories' was written last February when JT returned to San Francisco for the first time after his recent relocation to Brooklyn, New York. The results are classic JT and Fred...heavy swingy beats, funky bassline and the obligatory Rhodes chords work.
Featuring on this track is Oakland’s Aima the Dreamer. She first caught the attention of Fred and JT on a track from J-Boogie’s latest album. In the past few years, she’s shared the stage with people likeLadybug Mecca (Digable Planets), Lyrics Born, The Herbiliser, DJ Vadim and J-Boogie. This inspired MC took the spoken word road on this number, sharing her thoughts about space, time and, memories. JT also stripped down the track for his BK Dub.
The bonus cut, Amore, was one of those forgotten tracks. Originally written while JT was still in San Francisco, the track gathered dust on the hard drive until people started asking about this mystery track that Mark Farina kept playing. A quick glimpse at a youtube video revealed the true identity and together Fred and JT decided to include it on the new EP.
Fred and JT are two pillars of the US deep house scene gathering together over 300 releases and remixes between them on countless labels and showing no sign of stopping. In these recent days of Techno domination and a recent “House Is Back” campaign in Europe, the pair kept doing what they’ve always done best: uncompromising house music.
Next on Lazy Days, a new EP from Lovebirds.
