M8 Magazine commented "This is a fine slice of modern soul, the female vocalist dropping a yearning vocal over tightly syncopated beats, some lovely jazzual keys, good knobbly bass and sweet strings. The second cut takes up the 4/4, rocking evocative keys and thick driving bass, with beautiful washes and synth motifs adding depth. Fans of Om will be feelin' this - I look forward to hearing more from this new outfit. M7/M8"
Blues & Soul commented "Hardly a week seems to go by without the launch of a new imprint, but this one deserves your time more than most. The debut release from the Rare Unit Collective forges a new path for the broken-soul fraternity, with 'I Want It Back' being the standout. Here, Osa complaining about the loss of a lover, to a backing of slippery keys and sufficiently splintered percussion. 'Hydro' sees a swirling synth cover guitar flexes and polluted analogue bass drops in a coating of hazy smoke. Very nice!
[On 'Hydro'] "I like anything that reminds me of chilled-out Sundays, when you have all your mates round and just talk rubbish. This is nice chilled house, it's got some good elements in it." - Nick Sentience (guest reviewer) DJ Magazine
