Happy to show you the much sought after Tom Sawyer remixes of Brenda Lau's Chimbombo.
The well known singer from Panama, who has won the national song contest "Vive la Musica" twice has earned herself admission to the prestigieus Berklee College of Music where she's currently studying songwriting.
Chimbombo is her most known song and is about about the main character of a Panamanian famous poem “Incidente de Cumbia” written by Greek-Panamanian poet Demetrio Korsi 50 years ago. And this poem was based in a real story which happened in Panama when the Canal was administrated by the U.S. Demetrio Korsi’s poems reflect into the anti-discrimination and social change.
Chimbombo was a kindhearted drummer who used to play at a bar near by the downtown, the owner of the bar was Pancha Manchá. He was very in love with Meme, but one night at the bar he saw Meme was with an American and they went to the backside of the bar for their intimacy. Chimbombo went back chasing them and killed them because of jealousy. Then he escaped from the American who went to chase him to get him into jail.
A couple of years ago Tom Sawyer made a house music version of Chimbombo of which he gave away the mp3 file via the internet for only a limited amount of time. It has since then spread like wildfire as has been in demand ever since. Now it finally gets the official release it deserves!
