"Carlos Florez, (previously known as DJ Red Eye) was born in Argentina although both his parents originate from Chile he was raised in Scotland and London. This Latino DJ has been involved in the London Underground Music scene for the best part of 20 years from back in the 90s when Garage music was at its peak he played on various pirate radio stations including Flashback FM, Taste FM, Upfront FM and Select FM. He currently plays a Tuesday evening show for SOUL UK Radio.
Carlos's first break came in April 1996 when he was introduced to the night spot Scribbles in London's Old Kent Road. Here he met the likes of DJ Smiley, Rushmore and Ed Lloyd who soon noticed his that gift for Deejaying, high quality track selections and mixing abilities had the crowd moving till dawn.
DJ Red Eye, as he was known back then, was soon taking centre stage and requested to join the Scribbles team. He secured his resident spot on the busy Friday and Saturday nights, playing alongside Andy B, Billy Fitz and many other recognised South London DJs.
After a few years playing regularly at Scribbles, Carlos then landed a guest spot at the Chunnel club in Vauxhall (later known as Studio 33 and currently Club Hidden). DJ and Trinity promoter James "JD" could see that Carlos had a massive passion for music and was determined to entertain the ravers.
He started his Trinity residence playing the warm-up slots alongside Mike Ruffcut Lloyd, Ramsey & Fen, Pied Piper, Richie Fingers, Brothers Glenn, Femme Fatale, Dean Savone, Operator, and Dominic Spreadlove. James "JD" then offered Carlos prime-time sets, which became a Saturday night feature for nigh on 4 years.
As well as being prolific on the UK Underground Scene, Carlos diversified into promoting his own night For The Love Of House with his sister Natalia back in 2005. What was meant to be a one-off became one of the most talked about House events in the country. It all started off at the Dog Star in Brixton bringing in household names DJs and producers like Booker T, Steve Feelgood, Neil Pierce, Valentino, Sy Sez, Daryl B, Martin Blaize, Clemy Riley, Ed Lloyd, Lady T, Gavin Peters, Paul Saviour, Dana Down, Tom Bulwer "TT", Crookid and let's not forget Carlos' beloved and much missed friend and colleague DJ Nicholas J (RIP). For The Love Of House was held until 2009 at clubs including The Mass, Telegraph Club, The Yacht Club, and SE One.
Since 2005 Carlos has established himself as one of London's main players on the UK Deep Soulful House scene, playing in clubs up & down the country in addition to headlining alongside US DJ Benji Candelario on New Year's Eve 2011/12 in the beautiful surroundings of club IKANDY in DubaiCarlos still continues to play his music in clubs up and down the country and international bookings.
