DJ SLUGO

For thirty years, DJ Slugo has pioneered ghetto house music. One of the original fathers of Chicago Ghetto House/Juke music, Slugo's records, juke DVDs, remixes, and archetype presence in underground dance music is undeniable.

In the 90's, DJ Slugo became one of the first ghetto house artists on Dance Mania Records - immediately dropping future club classics like Wouldn't You Like to Be a Hoe Too, Freaky Ride, A Blunt, and countless others. Slugo also recorded music for S&S Records Inc. (Chicago) which is owned by 4-time GRAMMY® nominated producer and House Music pioneer Steve "Silk" Hurley and global DJ/Producer Shannon "DJ Skip" Syas.

Slugo would then go on to become President of Violator Juke Squad in Chicago, bringing black music's premier management company and label to the midwest.

Not stopping there, Slugo transitioned from Violator to founding his own multimedia merger with Blok Club DJs. Blok Club would go on to revolutionize the ways DJs operate together, launching with 145 DJs – all spinning, booking, and releasing records under one self-governed umbrella.

While changing the business of underground music, DJ Slugo's music was also transforming mainstream Hip Hop and R&B. He's been commissioned to do official remixes for Missy Elliott, Big Sean, and R Kelly. Refusing to be pigeon-holed, he's also crossed genres to remix Nina Kravitz, work with Nicolas Jaar, and is credited with being a main influence on world-renowned Daft Punk.

DJ Slugo has released over 600 songs, 50 CD's, 15 albums, and 10 DVD's over his iconic career – and he's not slowing down anytime soon, having recently placed records on HBO's Southside, Ballers, Empire, and Grand Theft Auto. He also was named Best EDM DJ (2019) and Best Street/Party DJ (2021) at the CMA's.

Underbeat Magazine was spot on when they named him, "Ghetto-Father of the American Dance Floor."
