STEVEN GARCIA

Steven Garcia is a DJ/producer from New York City who is known for his musical range and mixing ability. With early influences of disco, 70s funk and 80s pop, Steven discovered a passion for House Music in the summer of 1988. Inspired by the sounds of Larry Heard, Frankie Knuckles and Marshall Jefferson, he would spend the next decade amassing an eclectic range of records from disco and hiphop, to deeper shades of house and breakbeat.

In 1996, Steven aligned himself with Brooklyn's "Funky Soul Rebels", a collective of DJs who would organize some of the city's most successful underground events at the time. Together, they built a community of fans that would span from New York to Miami, San Francisco and beyond.

In 2000 Steven released the first of several EPs with FSR partner Seph under the alias "Seph & Ven" on Otro Recordings. Entitled "Heat Wave" EP, it is a shining example of the Deep House and introspective soul that defined their sound.

In 2003, Steven moved to the city of La Coruña where he produced his solo debut LP "Funk You Very Much". The album was a fusion of house, techno, hiphop and downtempo sounds and received great press. The single "Rise and Fall", was picked up by Café del Mar, and released on "Chillhouse Mix, Volume 4". Shortly afterwards Steven would produce "Mesmerize" an exclusive single which was released on "Chillhouse Mix, Volume 5".

In 2011, Steven and Seph would co-found Republic Music, a record label where he would release several EPs, including his highly acclaimed remix of Tangerine Dream's "Love on A Real Train", which received praise by founder Edgar Froese. Other standout tracks include "Heal the Land" featuring the late MJ White and Steven's popular remix of DJ Ino's "Remember Me".

In 2014, Steven launched Baked Records with local DJ Diego Santos, producing a two-track vinyl EP under the alias "Muffin Man". The song "Power Up" from was remixed by Charles Webster and charted by many top DJs.

In the studio, Steven leans on his experience as a keyboardist, percussionist and drummer to create dynamic and uplifting compositions. Behind the decks, he never fails to deliver a memorable set, connecting with crowds, opening new horizons and uniting his audience in the spirit of the dance.
