KAYGEE PITSONG

Born in the mid 80’s in Mafikeng, north west of South Africa, Kagiso “kaygee” Pitsong graduated from high school and continued with his studies in sound engineering at Damelin campus. In 2005 he travelled back to Johannesburg to finish off his studies as a sound engineer at Academy of sound engineering and hoping to make connections on the music industry. He began his career in 2006, at this time his music included a wide range of styles: hip hop, kwaito and afro soul.
In 2009 he went on and produced Dj Sbu’s hit single called “I am music” featuring Lungelo and in 2010 he released a house track called “cuferu” that appeared on Various Shades Vol.1 compiled by Lars Behrenroth from deepershades recordings. The track became an international hit, on the first week of it’s release it made it to number 23 on traxsource top 100, he also had a string of releases on Baainar Digital which helped to raise Kagiso’s profile in the South African house scene and in other parts of the world. This in turn became a breakthrough and turning point in his career as
a producer and DJ.
