LOA.

Camden-born vocalist LOA. (like 'lower') first cut her teeth as an MC and host on pirate radio in the late 90s. Turning her attention to her vocals in 2001, she performed at venues such as the Camden Palace, Turnmills, Colosseum and Scala, earning her place as a credible vocalist under the name Stephanie Smart.

Stephanie listened to some big voices growing up - Aretha Franklin, Jill Scott, Tracy Chapman and the like - learning their techniques and working some of their stylistic qualities into her singing and songwriting. The influence of these artists - plus the 90s RnB and Hip-Hop she binged on - is noticeable, punching through with a soulful, gritty edge to her vocals.

After 14 years of UK and International touring, Stephanie moved to Brighton to study a Batchelor of Arts in Vocals. Graduating in 2019, she re-branded as LOA. and teamed up with internationally-respected DJ/Producer/Remixer Scott Diaz to co-write on the 'Somewhere Else E.P, achieving a major playlist spot alongside some of the most well-loved names in House Music.

Published by Sentric and with releases on labels such as Simma Black and Defected, LOA. puts collaboration at the forefront of her music career, topline writing for Producers that connect with her soulful vocal delivery.
