AFRILOUNGE

If house music is, using the words of Chicago legend Frankie Knuckles "like church for people, who have fallen from grace", then Afrilounge are the diligent altar boys of this hedonistic mass. No matter if you catch them djing at one of their live gigs or enjoy listening to their tracks and remixes, a fine sense a suspense, ecstasy and redemption designates all of their work.

Founded in 2002 by Eduard Hartter, Markus Liefke and Richard Rotfuß, the collective effort under the name Afrilounge bore fruit right from the beginning. First as discjockeys, who soon had quite a reputation for their extended sets full of irresistable basslines, driving rhythms and elegant melodies. Second as producers, who until this day have released dozens of tracks on high profile labels liks Steve Bugs Pokerflat Recordings, M.A.N.D.Y.'s and Booka Shade's Get Physical Music, Nick Curlys 8bit Records and Connaisseur Recordings, the label of their mutual friend Alex Flitsch.

It was on Connaisseur Recordings that Afrilounge released their own highly successful track "Lux Dementia" in 2007. The house anthem includes all the incredients typical for a Afrilounge-track: A groove meandering between deep and techy, epic build ups, a dramatic break and an almost cheerful resolution. The course for their successful career as distinguised producers had already been set a few years earlier. In 2005 a cooperation with Patrick Chardronnet led to their first own EP "Phonix", followed shortly afterward by a remix of M.A.N.D.Y.'s huge clubhit "Body Language".

For many years now Afrilounge have been regulars on the european club scene. They received initations of clubs like Tresor and Watergate in Berlin, Cocoon Club in Frankfurt am Main, Robert Johnson in Offenbach, The Egg in London, Felini in Barcelona and Hive Club in Zürich to name but a few. Being passionate discjockeys and producers Afrilounge always put heart and soul in what they are doing. An outstanding commitment, that will always connect them with the early pioneers of house music.
