Already receiving remixes for "Odishon" on Yin and Yang in January 2019, we now turn our attention to the title track from Sapiens "Reservoir Gods" EP. First released in March 2018 on Baroque Digital, remixes come from Russia and Peru.
Needing no introduction to a legion of underground dance aficionados, Ewan Rill's 1,500+ production credits for over 70 labels has seen him at the forefront of his St. Petersburg home and global stage. Over 250 of those come on the Balkan Connection family of labels, while heavyweights OLD SQL, Stellar Fountain and Spring Tube account for many more.
Returning to Yang after a 2016 Dousk remix debut, Rill now joins forces with fellow Russian K Loveski, an award-winning DJ and producer in the St Petersburg club circuit and beyond. With multiple appearances as a combined production duo, Ewan Rill and K Loveski are regulars on Balkan Connection with additional releases on Bonzai Progressive, Colore and Sever Records.
The pair's remix of "Reservoir Gods" immediately delights with its chunky bassline and immaculately programmed percussion rooted in the original, as a rippling arpeggio plays a key role, lightening the mood with delayed presence. Building effortlessly, cascading melodic motifs entwine with each other post-breakdown to create a richly textured affair that mesmerizes with a subtly repeated vocal sample.
