Keysound Recordings are proud to announce a dark and deadly collaborative release between Krypsis & 9TRANE that circles the 130 bpm orbit.
Krypsis hails from Perth, Australia and 9TRANE from Norwich, UK, so the release is an international meeting of bass across spaces.
“Hollow Point'' was built around an initial Krypsis seed that the duo then grew across timezones: a sub-bassy underbelly reminiscent of dub and dubstep but at techno tempos. Layered over it are halcyon pads that bring fleeting moments of calm, as if exhaling over an urban skyline, that is reminiscent of intros to jungle classics like “Babylon” by Splash or “The Angels Fell” by Dillinja.
“Box” is a 9TRANE production that doubles down on the dystopia. Built entirely around a deadly underbelly, fragmented dread West Indian voices and flickering percussion, it lurks in the shadows between existing genres and styles.
Both tracks have been staples on Dusk + Blackdown’s new-talent-seeking Keysound show on Rinse FM for several years, before being signed to the UK bass-centric label.
Perth’s Krypsis is at the forefront of against-the-norm d&b/jungle through the label “New Forms.” He also explores lower tempos such as dubstep, grime and techno and has had releases on Australia’s Extra Spicy, Czech Republic Sapyens Records & Spain’s 83.
Norwich’s 9TRANE has been exploring darker 130 spaces for a while, with strong releases on Basilica, Freerange Sounds ft grime legend Riko Dan, and the muscular, electro influenced “Heavy Hitter EP” on Eatmybeat.
