Back for a 4th release on his rapidly rising Proportion imprint, Dmitry Molosh returns with the "Plant Growth / Shine Like a Star" EP.
An iconic name and a relentless force in driving his music to new heights and myriad directions, Dmitry Molosh has been at the vanguard of the progressive house scene for well over a decade. Since first appearing on You So Fat Records in late 2011, the Belarusian's rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Some 650 production credits later and Dmitry's music has featured on some of the finest modern independent labels. From Cid Inc.'s Replug and D-Formation's BeatFreak Recordings to Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, Dmitry Molosh has carved out a sizeable niche that finds him one a sought-after figure in a rapidly changing sonic environment.
Creating a growing following and strong identity with his Proportion label, January 2022's eponymous opener was followed in May the same year by "Small Wonders" with remixes from Hernan Cattaneo and Marcelo Vasami and Mike Griego. January 2023 saw the stunning twin-track, "Shining / Watercolor" as Dmitry Molosh now follows with another diptych of the highest quality.
Opening the EP, "Plant Growth" is characterised by a thumping beat, ticking hi-hat pattern and rolling 16th note bassline. A further bassline adds groove aplenty as multi-faceted layers of sound introduce percussive effects, rising pads and playful melodic touches. Hitting its stride at the midpoint, a sliding arpeggiated motif adds depth and vitality against the emotive pads and string-fuelled breakdown crescendo. Dropping back into an effortless groove in the latter stages, "Plant Growth" is an immaculately conceived piece that is full of dancefloor energy.
Joined by fellow Belarusians, Alexey Zatvornitsky and Upteka, both successful artists in their own rights, the latter is a veteran of almost a century of production credits over more than a decade. "Shine Like a Star" is founded upon a rich, multi-layered percussive top-line that combines organic toms and table with traditional dance floor beats to create a smooth and powerful groove. Ethereal vocal waves follow the deep bassline progression as a loquacious voice rises and falls with emotive passion as the lyrics ultimately expound the "Shine Like a Star" title. Making their presence felt at the stripped-back breakdown with free-flowing guitar phrase, the track picks up the pace again the final stage with the guitar sequence and vocal passage taking centre stage. The result is an impressive collaboration of talent coming together in a sparkling and mesmerising track
