Matthias 'Matty' Heilbronn is one of the leading contributors to the labels that shape the sound of house music today. Matthias' original productions are released on some of the most influential labels worldwide. He has remixed for major artists from Bootsy Collins to Cher as well as for respected underground house producers from Roland Clark to MKL. His relationship with Wave Music began in 1995 when he remixed Francois K's "Hypnodelic" on the classic FK-EP. Since that time, Wave has released ten additional remixes/productions from Matthias, making him one of the label's top contributors. Some of the highlights include "We Had a Thing", "Sweeter Love", "Arriba, Abajo", "Un Dia Mas" and recently, "That Girl". Matthias continues to DJ around the world where his DJ sets are as eclectic as his productions, mixing everything from soulful deep house, hip-hop, classics, reggae and tech-house.
On this release, Riddim, released on two 12" singles, Matthias shows an entirely new and different side of his productions skills venturing into yet another genre by creating this tech-house stomper with a reggae dub edge. Matthias' passion for reggae plays a big role in the production on each mix of Riddim. The first 2 mixes feature a musical feel with loads of percussion, funky deep bass, keyboard arrangements in the breakdown and ragga shouts throughout, and a dub that goes deeper as a true Reggae dub in traditional reggae style. Loads of wet delays and a tight production.
Part 2 brings on the really, REALLY big energy. Here, Matthias throws down a wicked acid bassline and effects, reminiscent of the classic "Acid Crash", while concentrating on tougher beats, a harder approach overall and creating two alternate journeys for DJs working a harder, tech, acid and tribal style.
