Uh Oh!

Druture

Grizzly
GRIZZLY026 | 2014-10-13
Grizzly is proud to present Druture's debut release, his first as a solo venture after leaving Grown Folk, his previous project. In the spirit of Grizzly its an EP that encompasses both house and techno alongside rap influences and breaks some interesting new ground. We have 2 originals, 2 collabs and 2 remixes, very much in the vein of Druture¿s nickname King Collabo. Uh Oh is a collaboration with label boss Sinden who has been an avid supporter of Druture from his Grown Folk days. They both cook up a unique dubby house number akin to reggae with its swirling tape echo feedbacks and charging melodic leads. High Tide, already massively championed by Jacques Greene, is an emotive and dynamic broken house cut that gets you from the moment those sustained synths start. Tier Zero sees Druture team up with Australia producer Dro Carey, a playful track that darts between half time and 4x4 tempos with consummate ease and one that showcases his love for rap and house in the same breath. Purple Fashion Week is a rap instrumental which doffs its cap to NY rap crew The Diplomats. Instead of pursuing a well trodden path of 808 drums, Druture incorporates techno rides, jagged choir voices and stabbed organs to, again, flip the formula. On remix duties we have Aquarian (UNO NYC) who takes High Tide on a darker ride, bridging the dancefloor traditions of London, New York and Detroit. Ango from the Lucky Me crew (Hudson Mohawke, Jacques Greene) takes the final place on the release (but by no means last). He contributes his own vocals as a backing, taking the rap original uptempo and adding an acid lead for something more frenzied.
